More Than A Ride is the story of how three creative, compassionate women built a vibrant, neighbor to neighbor organization to help seniors age in place. It began with a single purpose; to fill a serious gap in transportation services. Non-driving seniors needed rides for essential medical appointments and for basic trips to grocery stores. Older adults join as members who give and receive services including rides by car or mobility van. They make home repairs and install home accessibility aids, offer friendly visits and social service assistance and connect members to emergency response call systems. And ALL services are paid in the Currency of Time! Additionally, Partners In Care operates its Upscale Resale Boutique, a member staffed social enterprise that contributes sales revenue comprising 40% of the agency’s operating budget! Partners in Care grew from ten trailblazing members to 3500 active seniors who give and receive valued services to each other, redefining the term “social security”. Partners In Care is a leader of quality, innovation, and sustainability in the international Time Exchange Movement.
